Amethyst Community, we want to hear from you! We are in the stages of developing a master land use management plan and we need your input!
What’s a master land use management plan? A land use management plan is a document designed to guide the future actions/decisions of a community and use of the property. The plan will serve as the pivotal foundation for proper prioritization of the property to ensure protection, conservation, and resource management of the natural landscape that includes forest, meadows, a stream, and grasslands – the beautiful land that you all know well! It also will help guide our direction with how to properly build out the property to meet the communities’ needs and the future growth of Amethyst.
Amethyst has hired landscape architect, Derek Kalp, to assist in the development of this plan.
Derek Kalp is a registered landscape architect (RLA) in State College, Pennsylvania. He has been in private practice while also working as the campus landscape architect for Penn State University for over 25 years. In addition to campus planning and design, his work includes design for healthcare, hotel, and retirement facilities, as well as for residential clients. Derek believes that good design should be functional, long-lasting, and beautiful. His goals are to create healthy, restorative, and sustainable environments for people, plants, and wildlife. Clients have said that Derek has a knack for translating their vision into buildable plans by carefully listening to them and sensitively understanding the land.
We look forward to seeing you there, hearing from you, and sharing the final plan with the community!
